Mr. Santarelli's Thoughts
Great work class on your improved efforts in your blog posts. I am proud of the progress you are making in your writing. Many of you have used the feedback I gave you from the last post and it is great to see how that has helped you. There is still much to work on including; topic sentences and concluding sentences, organizing our ideas, and elaborating on what we want to say. Oh, and I must not forget that we should ALL take some time to review our work for spelling, grammar and sentence fluency. An extra 5 or 10 minutes could be your ticket to a level 3 or 4!

POWER of One
Hello Everyone!
As we approach Bullying Awareness Week let us reflect on some of the decisions we have made. Some of our actions have been good in supporting those who are victims of bullying. Others, need to think about how we can change our attitudes toward bullying. It is around us. We all see it.
Let’s put an end to bullying … together! Be prepared to discuss this issue at our first POWER of One meeting, Friday!
Please watch these videos and be prepared for discussion Friday.

The Highway of Heroes
Remembrance Day is only a few weeks away. Watch the following video and comment on it. How did this video make you feel? What did you think of while watching the video and listening to the song. Create a short paragraph in response to the video. Be sure to include ideas from the song lyrics.
Now I am not wondering,
Bout the things that I might have been.
There's no consolation,
To the forgotten brave.
Chorus
Highway of Heroes
By The Trews
The day I shipped out,
They numbered a dozen.
Upon my return,
Were a hundred or so.
From the coast and from the prairies,
I bet they keep coming.
add one more name from Ontario.
Chorus:
Carry me home down The Highway of Heroes.
People above with their flags flying low.
Carry me softly, down The Highway of Heroes.
True Patriot Love,
There was never more.
I served with distinction,
No visions of glory.
I served without question,
Or personal gain.
Seek no justification,
It's not part of my story.
And it offers no comfort to the ones who remain.
Chorus
I took up my vocation,
I was called by my nation.
Without hesitation,
My answer I gave.

Getting Dressed for School
By: Kenn Nesbitt
----------------------------------------------------------------
I must have been too sleepy
getting dressed for school today.
I tried to tuck my shirt in,
but I couldn’t make it stay.
I also couldn’t tie my shoes.
I fumbled with the laces.
I snagged my scarf, and now some yarn
is dangling from my braces.
My socks are different colors,
and my pants are inside out.
My sweater from the hamper left me
smelling like a trout.
I thought I put a hat on
to control my crazy hair.
The hat turned out to be a pair
of purple underwear.
I spilled my breakfast on my clothes
and headed into school.
My friends, of course, were all impressed.
I’d never looked so cool.
Add another stanza before the last stanza, that would fit this poem.
